Psych-traumatology – stabilization and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training for health workers and mental health specialists in Nepal | World Health Organisation (WHO) – 2017
Objectives:
To increase awareness of PTSD and other anxiety disorders related to disaster among health workers,
To increase the case detection rate and initiate an early referral for difficult PTSD cases,
To empower the specialists (Psychiatrists and Psychologists) on EMDR psychotherapy administrations. This will be useful in future disaster situations.
Outputs:
The health workers will be able to detect the PTSD cases early and make a referral to specialists when necessary,
The specialists will be able to administer EMDR to the people who will potentially benefit from the therapy,
These skills will be highly useful as preparedness for any future disasters response.
